‘Yellow’, ‘Asphyxia’ rule Iran box office this week

Mostafa Taqizadeh’s film ‘Yellow’ tops the Iranian box office, raking in highest takings as of Wednesday.

According to local media report, the movie has so far sold a total of over 40 billion rials while the first runner Fereydoun Jeyrani’s ‘Asphyxia’ grabbed bestselling title for this week with the weekly sales of more than 7 billion rials.

Produced by Kamran Majidi, ‘Yellow’ is a drama about people’s relations, goals and their achievements.

“Masoud’s wife suffers from nervous tensions and he has to take her to the psychiatric hospital,” a brief synopsis for ‘Asphyxia’ read.

Iranian actors Elnaz Shakerdoust and Navid Mohammadzadeh star in the flick. Mahaya Petrosian and Poulad Kimiaee are some of the other key casts in Jeyrani’s film which is rated as an adult-only film.

Taqizadeh’s debut film also tells the story of four young Iranians Nahal, Hamed, Faramarz, and Neeki who are the members of a scientific genius team trying to migrate from Iran to Europe.
